Peugeot's GT crossover gets 180hp engine and two-tone colour scheme.

What's the news?

Good news for those who like to have their SUVs with an emphasis on the S - Peugeot has just announced GT-Line and GT versions of the new 3008 crossover.

The GT-Line model is, as with similarly-specced versions of the 208, 308 and 2008, a body kit job. It has all of the looks and equipment of the sporty version (full LED headlamps, satnav inside, matte-effect chrome trim, wider wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels and a sharp-looking body kit), but you can have it with the standard diesel or petrol engines, so you get the look, but not the running costs.

The new 3008 GT though is really sporty. It gets the body kit, the chrome, the LED lights, the extra toys (added to which are Nappa leather, radar cruise control, 19-inch wheels, electric tailgate and keyless go), but it also gets the engine to go with them. In this case it's Peugeot's 180hp 2.0-litre BlueHDi diesel, mounted to which is the latest version of the EAT6 semi-automatic paddle-shift gearbox.

Both models can be fitted with eight-way electric adjustable seats, plus there's a Dynamic mode that alters the instrument display and cabin lighting accordingly.

The GT-Line and GT can also be had with the distinctive 'Coupe Franche' bisected paint job, which is black at the back and can be teamed with four other colours at the front. That'll cause a stir on the school run...

Inside, both models get Peugeot's distinctive new i-Cockpit cabin layout, which mixes a 12.3-inch main instrument display with a central touch screen and rather handsome new toggle switches that work as shortcut 'hot keys.'

Anything else?

You can order a GT-Line or GT 3008 from November, and deliveries will start in January. Irish pricing has yet to be released.
