What's the news?
Kia created four new concept vehicles for the Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. Each one is inspired by the USA, reflecting different aspects of the country. The new cars are the A1A Optima, Photo Safari Sedona, PacWest Adventure Sorento and Forte Koup Mud Bogger.
With its roof removed, windscreen lowered and 20-inch alloy wheels the A1A Optima is designed for Florida and the sunshine. The interior features four bucket seats, trimmed in cream leather to contrast with the turquoise exterior.
For the Northeast in autumn there is the Photo Safari Sedona; a mobile camera rig and editing studio. A custom steel roof rack, designed to take a variety of camera equipment, is fitted and there are power outlets to run the photographic gear.
The PacWest Adventure Sorento takes inspiration from the Pacific Northwest. A camouflage-style paint scheme and matt black accents and raised suspension with off-road tyres are part of the rugged appearance. Inside the dashboard is custom painted; the seats are embroidered with a tyre-tread pattern and a front camera is part of the Alpine Mobile Media entertainment system.
To explore the wilder parts of the Southern States there is the Forte Koup Mud Bogger. A four-inch body and suspension lift plus 28-inch off-road tyres on 15x10-inch wheels. Riveted wheel arch extensions cover the tyres and there is a white, powder coated brush guard. The interior is stripped-out and fitted with a roll cage.

First shown at SEMA 2014 the Ballast Point Sedona is a people carrier transformed into a mobile bar. It can carry four half-barrel kegs and the front passenger seat is removed to provide additional storage space. A hinged mahogany roof replaces the rear portion of the passenger compartment and folds out to create a space for serving chilled beer.
The Trail'ster was first shown at the 2015 Chicago Motor Show; this hybrid crossover, based on the Soul is aimed at urban motorists looking to head out into the Rocky Mountains.
