Blackwater Motors donates VW Polo to Blood Bike South

Blackwater Motors has donated the hatchback to commemorate six years of support for the charity.

A Volkswagen dealer in Cork has donated a brand-new Polo hatchback to Blood Bike South, the charitable organisation that provides urgent medical transportation services. The car decked out with Blood Bike South’s logo, was donated to celebrate Blackwater Motors’ six-year affiliation with the charity.

Long partnership

Over the past six years, Blackwater Motors says it has provided “unwavering support” for Blood Bike South as part of its charitable work. The charity is dedicated to delivering medical supplies and blood to hospitals across the region, with volunteers transporting their precious cargo by road.

Blackwater Motors, which sells Volkswagen passenger cars from its location on Forge Hill, in the south of the city, and commercial vehicles from another unit 2km away, says the charity is “invaluable” and has been “instrumental in Blackwater Motors' charitable initiatives.”

“As a company deeply rooted in Cork City, we are honoured to stand alongside Blood Bike South in their noble mission of saving lives,” said Cathal Quirke, assistant sales manager at Blackwater Motors Volkswagen Cork City, who handed the vehicle over to Blood Bike South. “For six years, we've witnessed the tireless dedication of Blood Bike South volunteers, and we are proud to continue supporting their crucial work.”

New Polo

To celebrate the dealer’s support for the charity, Blackwater Motors has donated a brand-new, ‘241-plate’ Polo to the charity, even decking the car’s bonnet out with the Blood Bikes South logo. The compact Volkswagen joins a fleet of other vehicles, including motorcycles, available to transport blood and equipment around the southern part of Ireland.

“We are immensely grateful to Blackwater Motors for their steadfast support over the past six years,” said Kevin O'Connor, the vice-chairman of Blood Bike South. “This donation reaffirms their commitment to our cause and will significantly enhance our capabilities in serving the community. Together, we are making a tangible difference in people's lives.”
