Exterior & design of the 2027 Jeep Avenger
- Backlit front grille
- Stylish appearance
- Distinctive selection of colours
Since its launch, the Avenger has successfully distilled the key elements of Jeep design into a compact, city-friendly shape.
The Avenger's chunky grille uses Jeep's traditional seven-slot design - although the original 1941 Willys Jeep had nine slots and the seven-slot treatment did not appear until the post-war CJ civilian models. As on the Compass, the grille features subtle LED backlighting at night, neatly freshening the Avenger's appearance.
To mark 85 years since the creation of the original Willys Jeep, Jeep introduced an 85th Anniversary model in 2026. It features dark-green paint, gold detailing in the bumpers and black-finished alloy wheels, a tartan bonnet decal and an 85th Anniversary badge on the front wheel arches.

Paint colours for the 2027 Jeep Avenger
Volcano, a deep black, is the standard colour for the Avenger. All other colours cost €950, or €1,550 when combined with a contrasting Volcano black roof.
The alternatives are Snow (white), Ruby (deep red), Sun (vibrant yellow), Concrete (blue-grey), Granite (gunmetal grey) and Sand (metallic beige). Bamboo, a vivid acid green, and Forest, a dark metallic green that is standard on the 85th Anniversary model, are also available.
Interior, practicality, tech & comfort of the 2027 Jeep Avenger
- Interior quality improved from 2027
- Durable seat materials available
- Rear passenger space is tight
The 2026 update - for 2027 and beyond - brought some detail improvements. These include more soft-touch materials, particularly on the doors and lower dashboard, plus a new contrast double-stitching effect.
The 85th Anniversary model gets gold stitching and tartan seat inserts, while the coloured panel across the dashboard varies by model. The 4xe version features a relief-map motif and more durable, washable seat fabric.
Getting comfortable in the driver's seat
Comfort in the Avenger's driver's seat depends partly on the height of those in the front and whether anyone needs to sit behind them. There is plenty of seat-height adjustment and fore-aft movement, allowing taller drivers to adopt a low, long-legged position.
The seat itself is comfortable, while the rugged 4xe version gets harder-wearing fabric on the seat centres.
The flat-bottomed steering wheel is chunky and pleasant to hold, with reasonable reach and rake adjustment. Shorter drivers may need to raise the seat considerably to see clearly over the relatively tall bonnet.
Infotainment and technology
Depending on the model, the Avenger has either a seven- or ten-inch digital instrument display, while a ten-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard.
Its shallow design means it does not dominate the dashboard, and the on-screen layout is generally easy to use, although some menus and descriptions can be confusing.
There is a useful bank of physical climate-control switches, a stereo volume control and shortcut buttons for the home screen and advanced driver assistance systems.
Built-in ChatGPT assistance can also help drivers of the electric version plan charging stops using vehicle-specific real-world energy-consumption data.
For 2027, the Avenger gained a 360-degree parking view for the first time. It uses front and rear cameras, with the side views generated from imagery captured at their periphery. The front-facing camera is particularly useful when driving off-road.
Practicality around the cabin
There is a large, deep storage area at the base of the dashboard, covered by a folding magnetic lid similar to an iPad cover. It can be awkward to use occasionally, but it is generally an elegant solution, with useful space beneath and an optional wireless phone charger.
The front passenger gets an open shelf lined with grippy material, along with a reasonable glovebox. The front door bins are a little small and there are no rear door bins.
Rear-seat passenger space
Rear-seat space in the Avenger is only just acceptable. Despite its SUV styling, legroom and headroom are tight, so the rear is best suited to children or adults on short journeys unless those in front can move their seats forward.
Fitting child seats to the Jeep Avenger
The Avenger has three ISOFIX positions: one on each outer rear seat and another on the front passenger seat. However, the small rear doors and limited cabin space may make larger rear-facing child seats difficult to install.
Boot space in the Jeep Avenger
The Avenger has 355 litres of boot space beneath the luggage cover, rising to 380 litres when loaded to the roof behind the rear seats. Folding the 60:40-split rear seats increases capacity to 1,277 litres.
These figures apply to the front-wheel-drive petrol and hybrid models and the Avenger Electric. The four-wheel-drive 4xe loses space to its rear electric motor, reducing capacity to 325 litres.
Towing with the Jeep Avenger
Most Avenger models can tow up to 1,230kg on a braked trailer, but the 4xe is limited to 925kg.
Safety in the Jeep Avenger
The Avenger achieved three out of five stars in Euro NCAP testing in 2024. It scored 79 per cent for adult occupant protection and 70 per cent for child occupant protection, but lower ratings of 59 per cent for vulnerable road-user protection and 53 per cent for its safety-assistance systems.
Performance of the 2027 Jeep Avenger
- All versions feel eager
- EV offers adequate performance
- Light, responsive steering
The Avenger may not look like an enthusiast's car, but it is more enjoyable to drive than expected.
Driving the Jeep Avenger Electric on German roads
Words by Neil Briscoe on 14 July 2026
The steering makes the strongest first impression. It is not sports-car sharp, but it is light, quick and direct, giving even the heavier electric version an eager feel.
The Avenger responds willingly to inputs and has an engaging character without pretending to be overtly sporty.
The nine-second 0-100km/h time is modest, but the electric motor's instant torque makes the Avenger feel quicker at lower speeds. It begins to run out of energy during overtaking or on a motorway slip road, though refinement is generally very good.
Ride comfort is also good. There is an underlying firmness, but enough compliance to deal effectively with poor surfaces, and the suspension suits the Avenger's generally lively character.
Driven too fast through a sequence of tightening corners, the Avenger eventually settles into mild understeer. Up to that point, however, it is enjoyable and responsive, with a degree of driving character that is increasingly uncommon.
Driving the Jeep Avenger 4xe off-road in Germany
Words by Neil Briscoe on 14 July 2026
It would be easy to dismiss the Avenger as a raised hatchback with rugged styling, but the 4xe is more capable than that suggests.
It is the only four-wheel-drive model in the range, using a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine to drive the front wheels and a 21kW electric motor for the rear axle.
It operates primarily in front-wheel drive, but Snow and Mud modes can maintain all-wheel drive at speeds of up to 30km/h. The 4xe also has additional ground clearance, for a total of 210mm, and mud-and-snow tyres as standard. Its selectable drive modes distribute power between the axles as required.
The dry conditions were not especially challenging, but the Avenger 4xe dealt confidently with gravel tracks and tight, uneven forest routes. These included steep descents and axle-twisting side slopes.
Although this was not the toughest off-road course we have encountered, it was considerably more demanding than anything most owners are likely to attempt. The 4xe retained the same eager character it displays on the road, while demonstrating genuine off-road ability.
Range, battery, charging, fuel economy and running costs of the 2027 Jeep Avenger
- 51kWh battery capacity
- Electric range is only average
- Hybrids promise reasonable economy
The Avenger is available with a petrol engine and manual gearbox, a choice of two hybrid powertrains or a fully electric powertrain.
Battery options and official range
The electric Avenger's 51kWh battery is average in size for this class, while its official range of about 400km is broadly competitive with alternatives such as the Renault 4 E-Tech electric and Skoda Epiq.
Real-world range and efficiency of the Jeep Avenger
We averaged 20kWh/100km in the Avenger Electric in Germany, although we were not driving economically and the air conditioning worked hard in warm weather.
In gentler use, an average of 15-18kWh/100km should be achievable, suggesting a realistic everyday range of about 250-300km.
We did not drive the regular front-wheel-drive hybrid at this event, but both it and the 4xe should be capable of about 5.5 litres/100km in mixed real-world driving.
During the off-road section, the 4xe indicated a much higher 16 litres/100km.
Charging the Jeep Avenger Electric
The Avenger's battery can charge at up to 100kW on DC, allowing a 10-80 per cent top-up in about 30 minutes. It can charge at up to 11kW on three-phase AC outlets.
Vehicle-to-load functionality is also available, allowing the car to supply up to 3.2kW through a special adaptor connected to the charging port.
Servicing the Jeep Avenger
Hybrid Avengers generally require servicing annually or every 20,000km, while the electric model has a 12,500km service interval.
The manual model uses a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder 100hp petrol engine with a timing chain rather than the previous timing belt, and its service interval can extend to 25,000km.
Jeep Avenger warranty
Jeep offers five years or 100,000km of vehicle warranty cover, including the paintwork. There is also an eight-year anti-perforation warranty with unlimited mileage and an eight-year or 160,000km warranty for the Avenger Electric's high-voltage battery.
Irish pricing & rivals to the 2027 Jeep Avenger
- Revised Irish prices not confirmed
- Major price changes seem unlikely
- Updated model due this winter
Gowan Auto, Jeep's Irish importer, has not yet announced pricing for the updated Avenger. As the changes are largely cosmetic, major price increases seem unlikely.
The current range starts at €29,995, while the 4xe and 85th Anniversary editions are expected to cost about €40,000 or more - and the latter may not be offered in Ireland at all.
The Avenger competes with cars such as the Renault 4 E-Tech electric and Skoda Epiq. Both are electric only, however, whereas the Jeep's petrol, hybrid and four-wheel-drive 4xe variants give it broader appeal.
Verdict - should you buy the 2027 Jeep Avenger?
The Avenger is a charming compact crossover. It feels unexpectedly lively to drive and, although rear-seat practicality and its three-star Euro NCAP rating count against it, its distinctive character makes it easy to recommend.
The electric version best suits urban commuters, while the 4xe is the choice for drivers who regularly encounter farmland or forest tracks.
FAQs about the 2027 Jeep Avenger
What is the maximum range of the Jeep Avenger?
The Avenger Electric has an official WLTP range of up to 400km. In everyday driving, about 250-300km is more realistic.
What are the "Easter eggs" in the Avenger?
The Avenger includes several small design details. A silhouette of a child mountain-biking along a rocky trail is etched into a corner of the windscreen, while the cross-shaped motif in the rear lights evokes the stamped fuel cans carried by classic Jeeps.
A silhouette of Jeep's seven-slot grille and round lights is also incorporated into the alloy wheels.
Are Jeeps reliable?
Jeep's reliability record has been mixed in the past. Recent owner and quality surveys suggest some improvement, but prospective buyers should examine model-specific reliability data rather than relying on the brand's overall reputation.
Does the Jeep Avenger qualify for the SEAI grant?
Yes. Subject to the scheme's eligibility conditions, the Avenger Electric qualifies for the SEAI grant of up to €3,500 and the applicable VRT relief.
