Is an old camper treated like a classic?

Hi,

I wanted to find out what limits are on camper insurance and tax if the vehicle is older than 30 years? What class of tax and insurance does it fall into and does it require NCT/VRT testing? Are there mileage restrictions on vintage insurance?

Any advice appreciated.

Trying to get insured on a 2004 Golf...

Hi,

I am a 21-year-old female with a provisional licence and looking to get insured on a car. I have been asking insurance companies and they have given me quotes of roughly €3,000 on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf. Am I better off buying a newer car? Will this bring down the price of insurance?

Can I insure a Ford Ranger privately?

Hi

I have a Ford Ranger insured as commercial, but as I don't need it anymore for commercial reasons I am wondering can I change it to private? I have it now taxed as private. Can you please inform me if this is possible in Ireland?

How best to get insurance after 10 years?

I have a full Irish licence, but have not driven in 10 years. However, my licence has no endorsements or bands; what is the best way to get the cheapest insurance or who is the best insurer to explain my case to? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm living in Dublin.

Could I afford to insure a 1.9 diesel?

Hi,

I am looking to buy myself a new car soon enough. I am simply waiting to have a full year on my insurance. I got insured on a 1.6-litre petrol Audi A3 Sportback, as my first car, with Axa insurance. The quote was around €3,700. I am looking for a diesel this time and I am wondering what kind of quotes I could be expecting if I try to get insured on a 1.9 diesel this time? There aren't many 1.6 diesel cars around that I would like to get.

Thanks!

Can I insure an electric Morris Minor?

I am converting a 1964 Morris Minor to electric, but can't find an insurance company to provide cover. I can get insurance if I leave the car with the petrol engine, but as soon as I mention conversion I get a negative response.

Can you help?

Just moved to Ireland - need car insurance...

Hello,

I've just moved to Ireland and I will be staying here for about two years, which means I will have to apply for an Irish driving licence. I have a clean Malaysian driving licence, which is five years old. I am 36 years old and female, and I have a car insured in Malaysia that has never gone through any accident claim (knock on wood). I had driven in Malaysia for one year before moving to UK between 2015-2018, and in all those years I only drove when I went home for long holidays.

I have my eyes on a second hand 2012 Ford Focus 1.6 petrol (automatic). I live in a house with two large parking spaces. How much should I expect for first insurance? Or should I just settle on a 2010 1.0 Yaris instead? If I have a budget of €1,200 for first insurance, what's the best car I can get?

Thanks in advance!

Why do Honda S2000s cost so much to insure?

Why do Honda S2000s cost so much to insure? I'm 28 and have eight years no claims, no penalty points and want to insure myself and my 26-year-old girlfriend (full licence) on the car. All the major insurers have refused to quote for me only, never mind her, and the excess they are  trying to charge me is over a grand. I have just gotten a quote for a Lotus Elise for the two of us for €700! Why is the S2000 so dear?
