Scrappage conundrum
I have a customer with a scrappage question that I can't answer. Her daughter passed on her car to her 12 months ago and now the mother would like to scrap this car. Is it possible? Her daughter has had it for a few years and the mother has had it since 12 months ago. Does the car qualify?

I have an old car with an NCT 1/11 and it was last insured on 09/2009. The car never got sold and was not used for 17 months. Is the car still eligible for the scrappage scheme?

Opel Insignia or Skoda Superb diesel estate?
Hi,
We are changing our car under the scrappage scheme. We were looking at diesel estates such as the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and the Skoda Superb Combi. The Superb Combi is well priced but it has a 1.6 TDI engine, which I think maybe too small for the car. The Opel is more expensive and you lose space and it is not as well specced. Or should I look at something else?

Can I scrap a car without the engine?
The question is in relation to my brother-in-law's car, which is being scrapped as part of the Government car scrappage scheme. Can he remove the perfectly running engine from this car and donate it to my brother before he sends it to be scrapped? My brother's engine gave up the ghost last week so it would save my brother the expense of having to buy a new engine. They both have the same make and model of car so it would be brilliant. I've been ringing the Revenue office but have not managed to make contact with anybody who seems to know anything and could find nothing on their website.

What small diesel car can you recommend?
Can you recommend a few small diesel-engined cars that qualify for the scrappage scheme? Value for money is important. It must be a five-seater, must have four doors and reliability is important. I'm considering a Ford Fiesta or similar-sized car.

Hi guys,
Going for scrappage deal, buying 1.6 diesel. Which car is the one to buy: VW Passat Comfortline 1.6 diesel BlueMotion or Volvo S40 SE 1.6 diesel? I am scrapping a Passat 1.9 diesel.
