Chunky new five-door hatch to be shown in concept form.

Subaru's new Impreza hatchback is due to go on sale late next year and the iconoclastic Japanese car maker has revealed sketches of a concept version that will appear at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show.

We don't know much about the new Impreza at the technical level yet, but we do know that it will ride on a new platform, which will eventually go on to underpin all of Subaru's products.

Alongside the Impreza concept will be Viviz, an SUV concept we've seen before. For Tokyo though, Subaru has updated the styling and added a new 360-degree EyeSight camera. This gives the car some autonomous driving capability, and it's able to steer itself on the motorway as well as park itself. The Viviz sticks with its existing drivetrain - a 1.6-litre diesel hybrid, with one electric motor helping the diesel engine drive the front wheels and two electric motors at the back, one for each wheel.

There will also be some tweaked Legacy models as well as minor mid-life facelifts for the Forester and XV SUVs.
