Suzuki to revive Baleno nameplate

New Suzuki Baleno hatchback to make global debut at Frankfurt.

Here's a nameplate we've not seen for a few years - Suzuki is bringing back the Baleno.

Presumably because Cultus Crescent or Esteem wouldn't play as well here, the all-new Baleno is a development of the iK-2 Concept, which Suzuki displayed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

Suzuki says the Baleno 'harmoniously combines stylish design, spacious interior and new technologies', but enough of this flim-flam - perhaps the best thing about it is that it uses a direct injection, turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine (presumably a three-cylinder), which the company has called BOOSTERJET. Fantastic.

The Baleno is likely to be launched here in Ireland some time next summer, with various technologies in it employed to keep the weight down.

Anything else?
