McLaren reveals glimpse of Sports Series

New ‘entry level’ McLaren sports car shown in short teaser video.

At the Geneva Motor Show (which we reckon you might just have heard was going on this week), McLaren unveiled the phenomenal P1 GTR and the slightly-less-phenomenal 675LT, but at the end of its press conference there was a video teasing the forthcoming Sports Series cars.

McLaren is aiming to have a three-tier range, of which the Sports Series will be the entry level. This group of cars sits beneath the Super Series, which features the 675LT, 650S and the Asia-only 625C, and the Ultimate Series, made up of both iterations of the P1 hypercar.

No full specification on the first Sports Series vehicle is as yet forthcoming, but McLaren did confirm it will have a carbon fibre chassis and a mid-mounted V8. The (extremely brief) teaser video also shows a heavily camouflaged car undergoing severe winter testing, with the rear lights eerily reminiscent of those found on the P1.

Anything else?

The Sports Series will get an official debut at the New York International Auto Show in April, but for now watch this brief teaser clip.
