Audi Ireland recalls A4 models

2,740 Audi A4s require software update for airbag control unit.

Audi Ireland has announced a recall of 2,740 A4 Saloon, Avant and allroad models to attend to a faulty airbag module. During in-house testing it has been discovered that the airbags in affected models - produced between November 2011 and mid-October 2014 - may not inflate correctly in the event of an accident.

Audi says the instances of such a malfunction are very rare and that the recall is a precautionary one with no cases of the issue being reported by customers. Rectification for the problem involves a software upgrade for the airbag control unit, work that should take no more than 30 minutes.
