Peugeot 508 set for Ploughing Championships debut

Stradbally to welcome first versions of facelifted Peugeot saloon.

Peugeot Ireland has managed to get its hands on one of the early facelifted 508s off the production line and will bring it to Stradbally in Co. Laois for the National Ploughing Championships, which take place between September 22 and 24.

The new 508 will retail from €26,750 and be available in three body styles: saloon, estate and chunkier RXH with its raised ride height and protective plastic cladding. Four specifications will be available with entry level Access models retaining the existing equipment on the current model - Bluetooth with audio streaming, air conditioning, front fog lamps and hill assist - while also gaining LED daytime running lights, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a seven-inch touchscreen with DAB radio.

Active models feature satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, bi-zone climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, USB connectivity and a leather multi-function steering wheel. Allure pumps the wheel up to 18-inches, adds leather, heating elements and electric controls to the seats, swaps the rear parking sensors out for a camera and adds sensors to the front.
The special order GT model will have as standard full LED headlights, a blind spot alert system, LED fog lamps and a rear parking camera.

Anything else?
Engine options comprise of a range of Euro 6 compliant units, both diesel and petrol. The 2.0-litre BlueHDi 150hp is likely to prove popular thanks to its 105g/km emissions, but the 180hp version with automatic transmission does not fare much worse with 111g/km. For truly low emissions you just have to look to the HYbrid4 option (available only on the saloon and RXH variants). By pairing a 163hp 2.0-litre HDi engine and 37hp electric motor the HYbrid4 offers 200hp, four-wheel drive and 85g/km.

For petrol, the new Peugeot 508 introduces a new Euro 6 engine: the 1.6-litre THP 165hp, with a six-speed manual gearbox - or it can be fitted with a new six-speed automatic gearbox. Replacing the Euro 5 1.6-litre THP 156, this new engine reduces emissions to 129g/km (in the manual) from 144g/km.
