All new Fabia goes on sale in January

Third generation Skoda Fabia to benefit from Polo tech.

Skoda has announced that the third generation Fabia supermini will go on sale in Ireland in early January. Set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October, the Fabia is based on the same platform as the recently revised Volkswagen Polo and also shares engines with its sister car, including the 60- and 75hp three-cylinder petrol units; the first time the Fabia will be fitted with such an engine. A 1.4-litre TDI diesel engine with emissions of 90g/km is also possible.

Borrowing heavily from the styling of the Vision C concept, the new Skoda Fabia is the same overall length as before but has more space between the wheels making for a more spacious cabin. A touchscreen infotainment system will likely be standard on all but the entry level model while higher end versions will get a 6.5-inch unit with built in MirrorLink, which mimics the functionality of smartphones.

Anything else?
Prices have not been announced yet but Skoda Ireland does say the new Fabia will be priced somewhere between the €14,500 range topping Citigo and the €16,495 entry level Rapid model. So that'd be €15,000 then...
