Skoda VisionC to star at Geneva

Design concept shows us the corporate look of future Skoda models.

Could we be looking at Skoda's version of the Volkswagen CC? Maybe, but what you're definitely seeing here is the future design language of all cars to come from the Czech manufacturer.

This is the Skoda VisionC design study, set to star on the company's stand at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March. Whether something like it makes it into production or not, it clearly indicates that Skoda is keen to muscle into markets where style is placed before substance. The company makes some great cars at the moment, but none of them are what you might call beautiful.

However, this rakish effort is supposed to show 'the next evolutionary steps' in the appearance of future Skodas, promising more expressive, dynamic and emotional models in the future. Skoda will be broadening and renewing its entire range in the coming years, so we welcome the sweeping profile, large wheels and mean face of this VisionC.

You might also note a certain triangular theme to the front lights - while the concept in this dramatic form is unlikely to see the light of showrooms, it's highly probable the front end treatment will become familiar to us all in the years to come.

Anything else?
The final line in the release says the 'five-door coupé study show the possibility of innovative body concepts'. So, something built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform and linked to the Octavia name might not be out of the question - Octavia CC, anyone?
