What's the news?

"I build engines and attach wheels to them", said Enzo Ferrari once upon a time. That's not the case anymore of course, and his beloved company is celebrating its 70th birthday this year.

On March 12th 1947, the 125 S saw road for the first time. This was the first car built by the legendary Italian firm, and to mark the anniversary of this occasion Ferrari is releasing a video re-enactment of the 125 S driving through the hallowed factory gates.

The 125 S started a long line of Ferrari racing and road cars that continue to this day, and the brand has built up a reputation and following that most manufacturers can only dream of. As a sort of birthday present to itself, Ferrari has created an open top version of the LaFerrari hypercar named the Aperta, and this car will be shown at many of the celebratory events planned for this year.

A huge party at Maranello on September 9-10th will round off the festivities, and Ferrari has created a dedicated website for fans to browse through the Prancing Horse's past. Visitors to www.ferrari70.com can view stories and watch videos detailing the most important moments in the history of the company, and further details on the planned celebrations can also be found on the interactive site.
