Peugeot's much-anticipated new 3008 SUV comes with digital i-Cockpit as standard.

What's the news?

After a long wait, Peugeot's new 3008 crossover is going on sale in Ireland this month, with prices kicking off at €25,995. The most important question regarding the 3008's arrival here has also been answered - yes, the i-Cockpit with its all-digital instruments and eight-inch touchscreen will be standard on all models. That's quite the gauntlet thrown down to Volkswagen, which charges extra for its own digital instrument pack on the already more expensive Tiguan.

That €25,995 will get you an Access specification 3008 with the 1.2-litre 130hp PureTech petrol turbo engine, which might just be the pick of the whole 3008 engine line-up. It has CO2 emissions of 117g/km and standard equipment on Access includes a multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and three 12-volt sockets. There's also good standard safety kit including Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), six airbags, cruise control with speed limiter, Speed Limit Information with Intelligent Speed Adaptation, Driver Attention Alert Level 1 and Lane Departure Warning. Other Access features include a full-size spare wheel if you leave the standard-fit 17-inch steel wheels on, one-touch electric windows all round, a chilled compartment in the armrest, air conditioning, three ISOFIX fittings (including one on the front passenger seat) and electronic child locks.

If you want a diesel model, then you're going to have to shell out €26,515 for a 120hp 1.6-litre BlueHDi Access model.

If you trade up to the 3008 Active (with prices starting from €28,295 for the petrol, €28,695 for the 1.6 diesel, €32,045 for the 2.0-litre 150hp diesel and €31,645 for the 1.6 turbo petrol) you'll get Advanced Emergency Braking System with video camera and radar and Front Collision Warning, rear parking sensors with 180-degree reversing camera (which Peugeot calls Visiopark 1), 17-inch alloy wheels, alloy roof rails, electric parking brake with Hill Assist, automatic headlamps and wipers, electro-chrome rear view mirror, front fog lights with chrome trim, automatic bi-zone diffusion air conditioning with touch-sensitive controls and Mirrorscreen connectivity and Wi-Fi, a spoiler and some body enhancements and LED interior lights.

Allure versions get a Safety Plus Pack to include Active Blind Spot Detection (ABSD), Active Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) and Advanced Driver Attention Alert (DAA3). Also added is Peugeot Smartbeam Assistance, door mirror mounted LED courtesy approach lights, front parking aid and 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Interior features include blue ambient lighting and some upgraded seat and dash trim.

Top-spec GT Line models will get self-levelling full LED lights, 3D Connected Navigation, TomTom navigation with live alerts, voice recognition, panoramic opening sunroof, Peugeot Open and Go keyless entry and push button start, Park Assist (parallel and row) with front and rear camera and 360-degree vision (Visiopark 3) and a Smartphone charging plate. The exterior gets 18-inch matt two-tone finish diamond cut alloy wheels and some GT body kit and styling updates. Interior touches include leather effect and cloth seat trim with contrast stitching and a leather steering wheel.

Anything else?

There's one final model atop the 3008 range, and that's the 3008 GT powered by a 2.0-litre BlueHDi engine with an automatic transmission, for which a price isn't yet available, but which will come with full Nappa leather upholstery, grey oak panels in the dash, electric seats and 19-inch alloys.

You can order your new 3008 now, and deliveries for Irish customers should start in February.
