Kia readies all-new ‘halo’ model for 2017 Detroit Auto Show, releases scant details.

What's the news?

Kia has been working on a large saloon-cross-coupe vehicle, of the same sort of ilk as the Mercedes-Benz CLS, which is likely to take a lot of inspiration from its GT Concept car. And the Korean firm has, quite literally, started the countdown to the new car's reveal at the Detroit Auto Show, held early in 2017.

With reference to the Nürburgring, agility, speed and a 'new paradigm of performance', this is going to be the long-awaited halo vehicle for the Kia marque that former BMW M boss Albert Biermann - now in charge of vehicle testing for Hyundai and Kia - has been promising for some time.

No further details as yet but there is every possibility that this model could use the 5.0-litre V8 making 420hp that Kia uses in North America. Here's hoping.

Anything else?
