What's the news?
This is the Volvo V90 Cross Country, teased in the run-up to Paris and now fully unveiled at a special event in Malmo.
In essence, it's a jacked-up, reinforced version of the elegant V90 estate, riding 60mm higher than usual on a softer suspension set-up and featuring bespoke Pirelli all-terrain tyres. Expect all V90 CCs to be four-wheel drive, unlike lesser CCs which have front-wheel drive architecture.
The Cross Country is likely to offer the same engine choices as the regular estate, so a couple of Drive-E diesels and the phenomenal T8 Twin Engine hybrid should be available. It's also, obviously, based on the Scalable Product Architecture chassis of all Volvos from the XC90 onwards.
The V90 CC should be on sale later this year, with first deliveries likely in Q1 2017 and we'll bring you the full rundown on Irish pricing and the range specs as soon as we can.
